Update on the Nadie Sin Hogar movement (NSH) vía their Twitter account.
The NSH movement has and continues to be very active on social media, especially via Twitter. They post very frequently and honestly, which has really helped me follow the movement.
On November 13, 2019, NSH sent a letter to the PSOE, the current political party in office. The letter is asking founders, Sanchez and Iglesias to commit to the Decree of NSH as one of the first actions of the new progressive government that would take office, however which party is unknown right now as polls will need to show in the next coming weeks.
NSH has made it known that they support PODEMOS, who is currently lower in the polls of the election results than conservatives such as Vox, PP, and the current party of PSOE.
The secretary of PODEMOS has confirmed their own support for NSH in a Twitter page video he tagged NSH in.
Below are key points from the letter done by NSH and it has been translated to English.
- Key points from the twitter page translated into English
Nadie Sin Hogar (NSH) wrote this letter in Spanish and I have translated clauses and provisions I believe are important for my research. Here is there statement: “We have been resisting the hardest attacks of neoliberalism…. We are writing to confirm your understanding and commitment to the resolution of the homelessness crisis urgently, as we have been requesting with mobilizations throughout the country since last April 16.”
NSH continued in their statement by stating they are expecting support from the PODEMOS political liberal party.
They continued by emphasizing the danger that undomiciled people are experiencing, such as deaths and murders. The most recent report was in Zaragoza on November 4, 2019 where a 32 year old man was killed. The letter mentions many others, including a NSH camp leader, Jose Enrique Comensana.
They also stated that they have had a positive response from the “Presidency of the government” from a letter they sent on September 20, 2019.
As continued by the letter: “We would like to ask you to take the initiative and commit to approve the Decree ‘No homeless we registered in Presidency- Moncloa on September 9…as one of the first actions of the next government of our country”
Based on the words of the NSH movement, many are excited for the new government coming in… which could hint to their disapproval of the current party PSOE. That is central between liberalist and conservative parties.
Another key point in the letter is NSH included the constitutional obligations by stating: “ That you (the government) take this resolution on your own initiative, which is also framed within the Constitutional obligations from the government in relation to the protection of the Fundamental Rights”
The letter was sent by NSH Spokeman Miguel Carrera Garcia.
The letter provides hope for NSH, however, it is imperative that the winning political party incorporates this resolution in there political ideals.
PODEMOS has not shown promise in their election poll results, but they are known to be very progressive, liberal, and supportive of all people despite the negative rhetoric and stereotypes of them.

This particular Twitter post is critical for my research for many reasons, such as:
- NSH has a plethora of resources they are using for their movement that has proven to be effective
- They are conscious that legislation and the emphasis of human rights is imperative for credibility and effective change
- I believe this provides credibility for the movement, because they are trying to aid all undomiciled people, not just themselves
- PODEMOS is supporting them which can encourage others to as well
